I’m sure you’ve all watched or heard about the new Netflix series called Tidying Up, the reality show that’s inspiring viewers across the nation to organize their homes. Expert Marie Kondo’s #KonMari cleaning method has not only tidied up families’ homes — it has also transformed lifestyles, strengthened relationships and sparked joy!
Spark joy? How can cleaning do that to my life?
I’m a firm believer that one’s environment (be it a living, work or play space) can truly affect a person’s productivity and peace of mind. At work especially, I personally feel that my desk is a clear reflection of how I am as a performer. I always think, “Behind a cluttered desk is a cluttered mind.” And don’t get me wrong, it happens to me all the time: One task piles on top of another, so my focus tends to shift towards my tasks and away from my environment. But eventually, I know that a messy desk can add to my stress, so I try to stop the madness as soon as I can catch it.
